Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced mechanical design engineer to advance the Lunar Permanence docking mechanisms and related flight hardware. You will lead design, analysis, and documentation while ensuring safety, quality, and cost targets are met.

Responsibilities include mentoring engineers, performing trade studies, and guiding interfaces and tests across development and flight programs within the HLS Sustaining Lunar Development effort.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering and at least 10+ years designing aerospace or equivalent mechanical systems.
• Strong mechanical design, integration, and mechanism analysis using 3D modeling and Creo.
• Experience with GD&T and ASME Y14.5 and tolerance stacks.
• Knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, and qualification testing.
• Proficient technical writing and clear communication of complex ideas.
• Experience specifying margins and test sequences for aerospace systems.
• Ability to earn trust and collaborate professionally.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop safety critical mechanical components and systems for pressurized docking mechanisms.
• Coach, mentor, and technically assist junior engineers.
• Participate in the full design cycle of flight hardware including analysis, development testing, and qualification.
• Create assembly drawings and interface control documents with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Develop documentation for testing and manage suppliers; support fast-moving R&D projects.
