Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Division Counsel to oversee and coordinate all division legal matters with an emphasis on land acquisition, development, and related contracts.

The role requires a Juris Doctor degree and admission to a state bar, plus 5–7 years of experience. The attorney will work with outside counsel, review real estate agreements, and advise on compliance across operations. The successful candidate will support HR and safety programs, handle disputes, and travel as needed to

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) required.
• Five to seven years of legal experience and/or training.
• Must be licensed attorney in good standing with state bar associations.
• Proficient with MS Office and email.
• Ability to travel overnight.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on land acquisition, entitlements, zoning, and development.
• Review and revise homebuyer contracts and marketing programs.
• Assist division litigation with outside counsel and hearings.
• Advise HR on policies, safety programs, and employment issues.
• Review subcontractor contracts and handle disputes.
• Support construction and warranty-related legal issues.
• Draft job descriptions and coordinate with internal teams.
