Job summary

The Norfolk Health Department, under the Virginia Department of Health, is seeking a District IT Analyst Sr. to deliver advanced technical support, data analysis, and information systems management for district operations.

The role coordinates with OIM and VITA/NG, maintains servers and applications, and supports training across staff to ensure reliable IT operations and data-driven decision making in public health.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; manage multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local government health department policies.
• Working knowledge of general office practices and business math.
• Attention to detail, MS Word, Excel, MS Access, SQL query language and data entry into state software.
• Knowledge in information systems management, Windows Servers, LAN, ORACLE RDBMS, Windows OS, TCP/IP.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support and data analytics for district operations.
• Coordinate liaison with OIM and VITA/NG for software and systems support.
• Maintain file server and permissions; act as superuser/administrator for key systems.
• Serve as District Information Security Officer, Web Master and GIS Coordinator.
• Train staff on systems and applications; support local systems and hardware.
