Job summary

Exelon is seeking a Distribution System Operator 2 in Joliet, IL to manage real-time switching, tagging and restoration on the electric distribution network. You will coordinate with operations, contractors and customers to maintain system reliability and safety.

The role requires shift work, where you’ll monitor voltages and loadings, respond to outages, and lead safety procedures. Exelon offers a competitive salary and a 15% annual bonus, plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months as Distribution System Operator 2 or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of the distribution system and switching procedures.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and manage stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, math, or business (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Follow policies to maintain system integrity, reliability and security.
• Gather and analyze system data to determine switching feasibility.
• Develop and provide emergency switching plans based on contingencies.
• Direct electrical switching, safety tagging and testing activities.
• Notify appropriate personnel during outages, emergencies and events.
• Maintain system voltages and loadings within acceptable limits.
• Keep SCADA displays and maps up to date and accurate.
