Job summary

Exelon Utilities is seeking an entry-level Distribution System Operator to help operate the electric distribution system safely and efficiently. You will dispatch crews, monitor outages, and support restoration efforts during storms and emergencies.

The role requires flexibility for extended hours, weekends, and holidays. Training and advancement within the DSO job family are provided as part of a pathway from this entry level.

Qualifications

• Associate or high school with 3–6 years' related experience, or 1 year internal Exelon experience in DSD1.
• Ability to progress to higher Distribution System Operator classifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to sit/stand for extended periods; distinguish colors on schematics.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and judgment.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and manage stress while multitasking.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch and procure resources to address electric emergencies.
• Dispatch planned and emergent work under shift manager.
• Acquire electric crews for emergent repairs and inform supervisors of abnormal conditions.
• Maintain operating logs and records of system status and events.
• Plan, schedule and load work into mobile data terminals.
• Draft work requests and work orders for distribution equipment.
