Job summary

Exelon is seeking a Distribution System Operator 2 in Joliet, Illinois to manage switching, tagging and real-time operations for a safe, reliable electric distribution system. The role requires leadership, adherence to safety procedures and the ability to work extended shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities include supervising switching activities, maintaining system voltages and maps, and coordinating with field teams during outages and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Meet all requirements of a Distribution System Operator 2 and have a minimum of 12-month Distribution System Operator 2 or equivalent experience.
• Thorough understanding of the EU distribution system, ability to recognize system configuration and loading issues, contingency planning.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and judgment.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to emergencies and manage stressful situations.
• Ability to work shift work.

Responsibilities

• Follow established policies, procedures and guidelines on distribution system operations. Maintain the system integrity, reliability and security.
• Gather and analyze system data to determine the feasibility of switching requests. Verify safe operation of the electrical system.
• Independently directs and supervises electrical switching, placement of safety tags and testing activities.
• Notify and direct personnel to outages, equipment failures and emergencies.
• Maintain system voltages, loadings and maps; keep supervisors informed of abnormal conditions.
