Job summary

Confluent is seeking a senior backend engineer for WarpStream, a Kafka-compatible data streaming platform built on object storage. You will own end-to-end development, from storage engine work to multi-region transactions, across a small distributed team.

Expect to design and implement scalable services, improve reliability, and push for operational excellence. The role is fully remote across multiple regions, with continuous demand for leadership and customer-centric problem solving.

Qualifications

• 5+ years industry experience designing, building, scaling and supporting backend systems.
• Strong programming and algorithmic skills; proficient in Java, Go, C/C++, Python.
• Deep interest in distributed systems and storage systems.
• Strong focus on project delivery and communication.
• Customer centric mindset, teamwork, leadership and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Drive complex technical projects end to end.
• Build backend services that are high performance, scalable and reliable.
• Troubleshoot issues across microservices, containers and virtualization.
• Ensure services meet availability and performance SLAs.
