Job summary

Disability Rights Florida seeks a Managing Attorney to protect civil rights of individuals with disabilities in schools, institutions, and communities across Florida. The role leads a team and oversees legal representation and advocacy, advancing systemic improvements and community outreach.

Requirements include 5+ years of civil rights litigation, Florida Bar membership, and willingness to travel; remote work options are available for Florida residents.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years as an attorney, civil rights focus preferred.
• Experience supervising attorney and non-attorney staff.
• Florida Bar membership required.
• Knowledge of state and federal law and professional conduct rules.
• Travel across Florida, sometimes on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Team Director in managing attorney and non-attorney staff and overseeing the team's work.
• Provide legal supervision of the work of assigned advocate/investigators and other non-attorney staff.
• Provide legal representation in a variety of forums to clients and the organization.
• Appear in administrative hearings, state and federal court, state agency and legislative meetings; provide advocacy, education, outreach.
