Job summary

Cengage invites a senior commercial business development leader to identify and secure large-scale workforce funding opportunities that drive enrollment growth across programs and states. You will leverage senior relationships across government, workforce development, economic development, and education to shape opportunities before formal programs exist and to move them through negotiations to activation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
• 10+ years in workforce funding, economic development, or government-related business development.
• Deep knowledge of workforce funding and how priorities are shaped at state and national levels.
• Established network of senior decision-makers and influencers across government, workforce, economic development, and public-private partnerships.
• Proven success originating and securing large-scale workforce funding partnerships.
• Experience identifying opportunities before formal programs or procurements exist.
• Experience leading long-cycle, complex business development with executives and government leaders.
• Strong commercial judgment, negotiation, and relationship-building; travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Identify, shape, and secure workforce funding opportunities with seven-figure revenue potential.
• Leverage relationships with governors’ offices, state government, workforce and labor leadership, and public-private partnerships to access funding.
• Anticipate investment priorities and position ed2go before funding programs are defined.
• Lead opportunities from origination through negotiations and activation.
• Develop funding partnerships involving state programs, public-private initiatives, and employer coalitions.
• Build and advance a pipeline, evaluating revenue potential and scalability.
• Represent ed2go in executive discussions and industry forums to originate opportunities.
• Collaborate with Government Affairs and across Cengage and ed2go to navigate policy and engage decision-makers.
• Provide senior leadership with insights into funding trends and market risks.
