Job summary

Paragon Capital Group, a real estate lender and EB-5 regional center, seeks a Director of Underwriting & Asset Management. Remote (US) or hybrid in New York City. The role underwrites all transactions, closes loans, and owns credit performance of the portfolio.

Reports to Managing Partner and leads a two-person team; responsible for formalizing processes and filling gaps as the portfolio grows. The position requires senior CRE underwriting, strong Excel modeling, loan structuring, and experience

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commercial real estate underwriting experience with ability to build a development pro forma from scratch.
• Advanced financial modeling in Excel: budgets, sources and uses, draw schedules, sensitivity analyses.
• Construction lending fluency: draw mechanics, cost-to-complete, retainage, lien waivers and completion guarantees.
• Experience negotiating loan documents alongside counsel and closing transactions.
• Proven track record managing and developing a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new transactions, assess sponsor/developer track record, market/submarket, budgets, collateral and exit strategy.
• Reconstruct sponsor pro formas to test EB-5 capital constraints and loan sizing against costs.
• Perform sensitivity/downside risk analysis and evaluate impact on recovery.
• Review third-party reports (appraisals, feasibility, environmental) and align with sponsor assumptions.
• Prepare written credit MEMOs with recommendations for partner approval.
• Coordinate with economist for job creation analysis and immigration counsel for project eligibility.
