Job summary

Metra is seeking a Senior Director, Track and Structures, to provide strategic leadership for Track, Bridges, Facilities and Electrical Maintenance. You will oversee capital projects, maintenance programs, and budgets across multiple districts, ensuring safety, reliability and cost-efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent with at least 4 years in engineering maintenance.
• Ten years of engineering maintenance experience with complex capital projects.
• Six years of supervisory experience including budgeting and hiring.
• Knowledge of railroad engineering maintenance principles and MOW infrastructure.
• Experience with budgeting, asset management, and performance measurement.
• Ability to lead large, diverse teams in a union environment.
• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct operation, maintenance, and capital improvement of Track & Structures across districts.
• Lead labor contract negotiations and administer collective bargaining agreements.
• Oversee budgets for personnel, equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Direct planning and execution of MOW capital programs and tie renewals.
• Represent department with agencies, contractors, and partner railroads.
• Ensure safety objectives and regulatory compliance across the department.
• Guide staffing decisions, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
