Job summary

The Stellarus Chief Information Officer (CIO) role is a senior leadership position reporting to the Sr. Director, Technology, Infrastructure & Stabilization.

This role partners with Blue Shield of California to drive technology strategy, platform delivery, and operational excellence across large-scale systems. You will guide engineering managers and senior technical leaders, ensure production reliability, and advance modernization efforts while aligning technology with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience
• 12+ years in software engineering, operations and management
• 6+ years of people management experience
• Experience leading multiple engineering teams and portfolios
• Proven track record of owning production systems end-to-end
• Experience stabilizing and modernizing legacy systems
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, observability and reliability
• Ability to partner with Product, Architecture, Security, Platform and business stakeholders
• Experience with portfolio planning and resource tradeoffs
• Experience in regulated environments preferred
• Master's degree in CS/Engineering preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership across engineering delivery and platform operations
• Lead engineering managers and senior tech leaders for solution delivery and reliability
• Drive modernization, architecture decisions and production stability
