Job summary

Fjsped seeks a Director of Special Education to plan, administer, and direct the member district's SPED programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and managing the SPED budget. The role reports to the Executive and Governing Boards.

The position requires advanced degrees in SPED/education leadership, licensure, and a minimum five years of administrative experience. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Special Education or related field required.
• Master's in Education Leadership/Curriculum and Instruction/Special Education.
• Professional Educator's License in school administration.
• Director of Special Education Endorsement required or willingness to obtain.
• Five years of successful administrative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data related to teaching and learning.
• Collaborate to implement curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
• Use research and data to continually evaluate instructional programs.
• Provide professional development based on research and data to SPED staff and districts.
• Prepare and administer annual budget in line with board direction and ISBE guidelines.
• Prepare and present at executive and governing board meetings.
• Lead policy execution and staff recruitment.
• Coordinate with universities, districts and ESC for projects and planning.
