Job summary

OneStream is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams remotely in the US. You will direct technical strategy, architecture, delivery, and talent development while partnering with Product, Security, and CloudOps to ensure a secure, scalable, and innovative finance platform.

The role emphasizes strategic vision and tactical delivery, with accountability for reliability, security, and developer productivity in a global SaaS environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive the Engineering strategy and roadmap, aligned to business outcomes and product needs.
• Partner with Product to deliver product capabilities in a sustainable and scalable manner with clear architectural foundations.
• Establish and communicate priorities based on customer impact, risk reduction, cost efficiency, and developer productivity.
• Lead execution across multiple teams and programs with a focus on predictable delivery, high quality, and measurable outcomes.
• Build a culture of disciplined software engineering: strong planning, clear requirements, pragmatic architecture, and effective release management.
• Ensure high-quality platform APIs, service contracts, backward compatibility, and versioning strategies.
• Partner with SRE/CloudOps to improve incident response, postmortems, runbooks, and reliability practices.
• Ensure services are designed with security-by-default, compliance alignment, and strong governance.
• Work closely with Security teams on secure SDLC, vulnerability management, and identity models.
• Champion internal developer experience: self-service infra, CI/CD modernization, test automation, and streamlined workflows.
• Reduce friction for product teams by building tooling and documentation that scale.
• Ensure long-term maintainability by managing technical debt and modernization.
• Lead, coach, and grow Engineering Directors, Managers, Staff+ engineers, and technical leaders.
• Build a talent strategy: hiring, onboarding, retention, performance, and succession planning.
• Create a culture of accountability, high trust, learning, and engineering rigor.
• Partner with Product, Quality, UX/Design, Customer Success, Support to ensure platform implementations have customer impact.
• Communicate Roadmap status, risk, tradeoffs, and technical strategy to executives and stakeholders.
