Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to define and lead the engineering function behind our custom-built platforms that power our lead-to-cash flow. You’ll own people, standards, and technical direction, leading through managers in a matrixed, pod-based delivery model.

You will build and grow a world-class team, set development practices, own shared platform services, and partner with product, security, and compliance to deliver value across the organization.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including several years in leadership.
• Experience leading through other managers and building SaaS applications.
• Strong systems thinking with architectural vision for a domain.
• Experience in healthcare, financial services, or regulated industries.
• Comfortable operating in a matrixed, pod-based delivery model.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a world-class team of engineers, managers, and tech leads.
• Set engineering standards, tech direction, testing, and debt management.
• Own shared platform services delivered as internal products.
• Ensure delivery is fit-for-purpose and production-ready.
• Partner with product, architecture, security, and compliance.
• Advise on architecture and design decisions across pods.
• Champion quality and long-term platform strategy.
