Datavant is the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare. As Director of Software Engineering, you will define and lead the engineering function behind our internally-facing platforms, owning hiring, standards, and technical direction.

You will lead through engineering managers and tech leads in a matrixed, pod-based delivery model, delivering a stable, scalable foundation to support Datavant’s journey.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with leadership experience
• Engineering background with production code experience and system design knowledge
• Experience defining systems-level architectural and technology vision
• Experience owning internally-facing platforms or shared services
• Comfortable in a matrixed, pod-based delivery model
• Experience in healthcare, financial services, or other regulated fields
• Ability to make hard decisions and communicate trade-offs to executives
• Strong organization, clarity, and project-status communication

Responsibilities

• Build, grow, and lead a world-class team of engineers, managers, and tech leads
• Set engineering standards and technology direction for the domain
• Own shared platform services as products used by other teams
• Ensure delivery is fit-for-purpose and scalable in production
• Partner with product, architecture, security, and compliance
• Mentor teams as a senior technical advisor and sounding board
• Champion standards and processes to raise quality over time
