Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to define and lead the engineering function behind our internal platforms, supporting lead-to-cash workflows. You will oversee engineering managers and technical leads, driving hiring, growth, performance, and the technical bar.

You will shape systems-level architectural vision, own shared services like authentication as a product, and partner across pods to deliver value-stream outcomes in a regulated healthcare-data environment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with leadership roles.
• Hands-on engineering background; can read and reason about code.
• Experience defining systems-level architectural and technology vision.
• Fluency in order management, billing, revenue, or related domains.
• Experience owning internally-facing platforms or shared services.
• Comfortable leading in a matrixed, pod-based model.
• Experience in healthcare, financial services, or regulated industries.
• Able to make hard decisions and communicate trade-offs to executives.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a world-class team of engineers, managers, and leads.
• Set engineering standards and technology direction for the domain.
• Own shared platform services as internal products.
• Ensure production-ready delivery and prevent future rework.
• Partner with product, architecture, security, and compliance to form cross-functional pods.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor on architecture and design.
