Job summary

Datavant seeks a Director of Software Engineering to define and lead the engineering function behind our internal platforms, guiding the domain from Order-to-Cash to Lead-to-Contract. You will lead via engineering managers and set technical direction, owning people, standards, and delivery in a matrixed pod model.

You will partner with product, architecture, security, and compliance, ensuring our platforms scale, remain secure, and deliver rapid value to the business.

Qualifications

• Over 12 years of software engineering experience with leadership experience, including leading through managers.
• Strong background in defining systems-level architecture and technology vision.
• Experience owning internally-facing platforms or shared services used by other teams.
• Experience in order management, billing, revenue, or related financial systems.
• Comfortable operating in a matrixed, pod-based delivery model.
• Healthcare, financial services, or other highly regulated fields preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, grow, and lead a world-class team of engineers, managers, and tech leads.
• Set engineering standards and technology direction for the domain, including practices, architecture, quality and debt management.
• Own shared platform services (e.g., auth) as products with internal customers.
• Ensure delivery is fit-for-purpose and production-ready, with clear trade-offs.
• Partner with product, architecture, security, and compliance across cross-functional pods to deliver value.
• Serve as senior technical advisor on architecture, trade-offs, and design to teams and pods.
• Champion software standards and processes to raise quality over time.
