Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to define and lead the engineering function behind our internal platforms. You will own people, standards, and technical direction, guiding managers and leads in a matrixed pod-based model to build scalable, production-ready systems.

You will partner with product, architecture, security, and compliance to deliver value streams such as Order-to-Cash and Lead-to-Contract, while setting the bar for quality and delivery across the domain.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering with leadership experience.
• Produced production software and earned respect as a technologist.
• Defined systems-level architectural and technology vision.
• Experience in order management, billing, and revenue domains.
• Owned internally-facing platforms or shared services.
• Comfortable leading in a matrixed, pod-based model.
• Experience in healthcare, financial services or regulated fields.

Responsibilities

• Build, grow, and lead a world-class team of engineers, managers, and leads.
• Set engineering standards, technology direction, and quality practices.
• Own shared platform services consumed by other teams.
• Ensure fit-for-purpose delivery and minimize rework.
• Partner with product, architecture, security, and compliance in cross-functional pods.
• Advise on architecture and design trade-offs for the domain.
• Champion processes and standards to raise quality over time.
