Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to define and lead the engineering function behind our internal platforms, supporting lead-to-cash and platform services. You will manage engineering leaders, set standards, and drive technical direction in a matrixed, pod-based environment.

You will ensure production-grade delivery, align with revenue-related workflows, and partner with product, security, and compliance to deliver impact across Order-to-Cash and Lead-to-Contract domains.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership — leading through other managers.
• Experience defining systems-level architectural and technology vision for a domain.
• Experience with order management, billing, revenue or related financial systems.
• Comfortable in a matrixed, pod-based organization with cross-functional pods.
• Experience in healthcare, financial services or other regulated fields.
• Able to communicate trade-offs and drive technical decisions with executives.

Responsibilities

• Build, grow, and lead a world-class team of engineers, managers, and leads, owning hiring and growth.
• Set engineering standards and technology direction for the domain, including architecture and testing.
• Own shared platform services and treat them as products.
• Ensure fit-for-purpose delivery and avoid future rework.
• Partner with product, architecture, security, and compliance to deliver value-stream outcomes.
• Serve as senior technical advisor and engage in architecture decisions and trade-offs.
• Champion standards and processes to raise quality over time.
