Senior Director Software Engineering, Digital Banking

The Sr. Director Software Engineering, Digital Banking is a senior leadership role responsible for building, leading, and scaling Ignite Banking's application development practice. This individual will provide strategic leadership, technical direction, industry expertise, and hands-on operational management to ensure the delivery of innovative, high-impact solutions for our banking and financial services clients.

Ignite Banking is a boutique solutions consultancy, serving exclusively banks and financial institutions, dedicated to leading clients through technically complex, strategically critical initiatives. Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Delivery:

• This is a client facing role, serving as a senior technical advisor to clients, engaging with enterprise & solutions architecture, data architecture, and application development teams.
• Key leader, and hands-on contributor acting as the 'tip of the sphere' for engagement kick-offs, technical assessments, and client environment discovery & alignment.
• Oversee the successful delivery of highly customized solutions, ensuring they meet client expectations for quality, code standards, technical accuracy, architectural alignment, and industry best practices.

Practice Management:

• Build, develop, and lead a high-performing engineering team, including Software Developers, Solutions Architects, and Enterprise Data Engineers.
• Design and implement best practices, frameworks, and methodologies to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning and growth, career advancement, and technical excellence.

Strategic & Technical Leadership:

• Provide hands on technical direction and oversight on complex client engagements, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices.
• Lead/support the design and architecture of solutions in areas such as Application Development, Cloud Transformation, Enterprise Data Architecture, Digital Banking, Platform Modernization, and System Integrations.
• Maintain and advance Ignite Banking’s technical expertise by staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends in the financial services sector.
• Build and maintain relationships with key technical leaders and contacts within our portfolio of vendor partner relationships.

Business Development Support:

• Collaborate with the business development team to support new business opportunities via technical assessment, proposal vetting, and estimation.
• Support the development of technical proposals, statements of work (SOW), and client presentations.
• Represent Ignite Banking at industry events, conferences, and client meetings as a thought leader in engineering and technology for financial services.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in technology consulting or a similar role, with a focus on engineering leadership in financial services.
• Proven experience building and leading high-performing technical teams.
• Deep technical expertise in cloud computing, enterprise architecture, data engineering, digital banking, and platform modernization.
• Strong client management and executive communication skills.
• Industry certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), or other relevant areas are a plus.
