CVS Health is seeking a Lead Director of Software Engineering to shape technical strategy for a multi-team organization and to drive delivery at velocity. You will embed AI/ML capabilities and scalable architectures, partnering with product, data, and healthcare business leaders to translate strategy into engineering bets.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading large-scale engineering organizations.
• Deep, hands-on technical foundation in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and modern backend engineering at scale.
• Proven AI platform ownership with production AI systems and model deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy across a multi-team engineering organization (50–150+ engineers).
• Embed LLMs, generative AI, agentic workflows, and ML-powered automation into the engineering lifecycle.
• Own delivery at velocity and be accountable for outcomes and quality.
• Partner with Product owners, Data Engineers, and Health care leaders to translate strategy into engineering bets.
• Be the technical voice in the room, calling out debt and advocating for investment.
