Job summary

Rocket Lab, headquartered in Long Beach, CA, seeks a Senior Director of Business Development for Civil & Commercial sectors to lead satellite solutions BD and capture strategies. You will engage government and commercial customers, shape strategic partnerships, and drive proposals that win major contracts.

Based at Rocket Lab’s Long Beach HQ, you will travel frequently to meet clients, coordinate with engineering and operations teams, and represent the company at industry events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in business development, program management, or systems engineering within the aerospace sector.
• Knowledge of commercial acquisition processes, government contracting, and the commercial space landscape.
• Proven track record of securing large contracts and managing strategic relationships.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Ability to travel frequently (up to 50%) domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead BD initiatives focused on satellite solutions for civil and commercial applications.
• Develop and execute capture strategies for large contracts.
• Engage with key customer stakeholders to build long-term relationships.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver proposals that win business.
• Monitor industry trends to inform BD strategies.
• Grow existing opportunities and nurture customer relationships.
• Present Rocket Lab’s capabilities to provide satellite solutions and bus offerings.
• Lead or participate in proposal activities, including content creation for bids.
