Senior Director, Sales & Business Development

Join to apply for the Senior Director, Sales & Business Development role at The Jackson Laboratory.

This position is responsible for sales of all JMCRS products and services (such as Mouse strains, Model Generation, Breeding, Reproductive Sciences, In Vivo Pharmacology, PreClinical Services) to academic and governmental research centers, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies within North America. It is a key leadership role overseeing daily operations to drive revenue growth in its region. The primary goal is to meet organizational sales targets by developing and leading the North American sales team. The individual will collaborate with various JMCRS departments including Marketing, Product Management, Technical Support, Customer Service, Project Management, Product Development, and Operations. The role also involves managing a sizable team of field-based Account Managers, Regional Directors, Market Development Managers, Strategic Account Managers, and office-based sales support staff. Building strong relationships with key customers, business leaders, and stakeholders is crucial. Regular travel to JAX campuses and customer sites is expected.

This position is remote with up to 50% travel for meetings, conferences, and onsite visits.

The salary range is $157,688 - $277,662, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead the North American Sales organization to achieve growth targets.
  • Ensure effective sales, account, and territory management, along with training for team members.
  • Travel regularly to customer accounts and trade shows, conducting in-person meetings and team coaching.
  • Collaborate with JMCRS leadership to develop a sales operations plan aligned with organizational goals.
  • Prioritize key academic, biotech, and pharmaceutical accounts for growth and development.
  • Ensure alignment and collaboration across all JMCRS teams to foster an inclusive culture.
  • Structure commercial relationships with key accounts to serve broad research and therapeutic areas.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's or higher preferred.
  • 8-15 years of relevant sales and leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of the drug discovery and academic research ecosystems.
  • Experience selling solutions and technical services to academic and biopharma clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across diverse cultures and disciplines.
  • Proven ability to lead a high-performance sales team and develop strategic customer relationships.
