Job summary

Verizon seeks an Associate Director of Responsible AI to lead enterprise-wide AI governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance across our AI/ML initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of technology, law, and business, coordinating across Legal, Privacy and Public Policy to ensure safe, ethical, and scalable AI deployment.

You will drive frameworks, audits, and governance councils, while embedding responsible AI practices into the ML lifecycle and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Eight or more years of relevant work experience in technology policy, data governance, legal, risk management, or data science.
• Three or more years of direct leadership experience in AI Governance, Responsible AI, Tech Ethics, or AI/ML Risk Management at an enterprise scale.
• Demonstrated experience translating global AI and data regulations (e.g., NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act, GDPR, CCPA) into enterprise compliance strategies.

Responsibilities

• Defining, scaling, and managing Verizon’s enterprise-wide Responsible AI framework.
• Co-chairing the AI Governance Council and establishing go/no-go criteria for model deployment.
• Designing AI auditing processes focused on bias mitigation, fairness, transparency, and explainability.
• Partnering with Legal, Privacy, and Public Policy to navigate AI regulatory landscapes and ensure compliance.
• Leading cross-functional AI red-teaming and stress-testing to identify vulnerabilities.
• Collaborating with ML engineers and product managers to embed RAI into CI/CD and ML lifecycle.
• Developing training programs on AI ethics, data privacy, and responsible development.
