Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals LLC seeks a visionary Director, AI Governance & Policy to lead the enterprise AI governance program and shape policies, risk management, and platforms enabling safe, compliant AI across the company.

You will partner with Legal, Privacy, Data Governance, and Quality to scale Responsible AI practices, regulatory alignment, and governance-by-design across AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years in technology, governance, risk, compliance, data management, AI or related areas.
• 5+ years leading enterprise governance, risk management, compliance, or AI governance programs.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute enterprise AI Governance strategy aligned with business priorities.
• Lead AI governance processes: intake, review, approval, monitoring, lifecycle management.
• Own AI risk management frameworks, controls, and governance standards.
• Oversee AI Governance platform: inventories, policy management, risk assessments, workflow automation.
• Establish governance for generative AI, AI agents, knowledge graphs, and RAG solutions.
• Ensure oversight, auditability, and accountability for AI systems across the enterprise.
• Develop and maintain AI policies, standards, and guidelines for regulated and non-regulated use cases.
• Partner with Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Quality, IT, and Data teams to embed governance-by-design.
• Lead AI Policy Council and AI Review processes with cross-functional alignment.
• Promote AI literacy through training, communications, and stakeholder engagement.
