Job summary

The YMCA of South Hampton Roads seeks a Senior Director of People and Culture to lead human capital initiatives and partner with senior leaders to drive talent, engagement, and a strong culture across divisions.

In this role you will advance onboarding, leadership development, performance management, and employee relations while upholding confidentiality and YMCA values. Collaboration with operations and HR partners is essential to deliver value to team members and the organization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in human resources, recruiting and employee relations.
• 4-year college degree preferred in human resources, labor/employee relations, organizational/leadership development or related field.
• PHR or Management & Employee Relations professional designation/certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting human resources compliance.
• Proficiency with employee relations, progressive performance management, investigations, and EEO.
• Exhibits confidentiality and a strong alignment with YMCA values.

Responsibilities

• Lead employee relations and engagement, leadership development, and performance management.
• Support recruiting through requisition management, interview process, offers, and pre-boarding.
• Assist with Y University training for new hires and audits compliance.
• Maintain and update employee files and HR records.
• Partner with leadership to implement culture and engagement initiatives.
• Provide HR administrative support to the Vice President of People & Culture.
