Job description

Position Overview

Leads, directs, and coordinates overall plant operations to meet organizational objectives, ensuring cost-effectiveness, timeliness, accuracy, high product quality, and workplace safety. Promotes Simmons' mission and values, supporting company strategies outlined by leadership.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Operations Management: Oversee plant scheduling, production, and maintenance to meet company, customer, and regulatory standards. Ensure quality performance aligns with guidelines and customer relations, collaborating with Human Resources, Safety, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Finance, Shipping, Supply Chain, and others.
  2. Budget and Facility Expenses: Manage the production budget, plan capital expenditures, and recommend major facility investments to ensure safe and efficient operations, presenting updates to leadership.
  3. Safety and Compliance: Promote a safe work environment complying with policies and regulations (OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.). Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory standards related to production and delivery.
  4. Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of ongoing process improvement, driving waste reduction and efficiency enhancements.
  5. Employee Management: Supervise and evaluate employees, collaborate on hiring, administer disciplinary actions, and support employee development, maintaining a positive work environment.
  6. Team Participation: Engage in team development, communication, and policy implementation, fostering cohesion and resolving issues proactively.
  7. System Principles: Understand and support Simmons’ operating systems (quality, security, LEAN, etc.), considering their impact on daily activities.
  8. Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as needed to support business objectives, encouraging innovation and flexibility.
Physical Activities & Travel

Operate computers, communicate with stakeholders, work in various temperatures, move within manufacturing environments, and travel as required, including overnight stays.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ years in food processing supervision, 2+ years managing multiple departments, and 5+ years in food manufacturing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent management experience.
