Leads, directs, and coordinates overall plant operations to achieve organizational objectives while ensuring cost-effectiveness, timeliness, accuracy, high product quality, and workplace safety. Promotes Simmons' mission and values, supporting company strategies outlined by leadership.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a Salary Exempt position.
- Operations Management: Directs plant operations including scheduling, production, and maintenance to meet company, customer, and regulatory standards. Ensures quality performance aligns with all guidelines, including USDA/FDA, and fosters collaboration across departments such as HR, Safety, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Finance, Shipping, and Supply Chain.
- Budget and Facility Expenses: Manages the production budget, recommends capital expenditures, and presents operational updates to leadership.
- Safety and Compliance: Promotes a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with all safety policies and regulations (OSHA, environmental laws, etc.). Ensures facility operations meet legal standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Develops a culture focused on process improvement and waste reduction.
- Employee Management: Supervises staff, conducts hiring in collaboration with HR, administers disciplinary actions, and fosters a positive work environment aligned with Simmons' values.
- Team Participation: Engages in team development, communication, and policy implementation to ensure cohesive operations and organizational synergy.
- System Principles: Maintains familiarity with Simmons’ operating systems (quality, security, LEAN) and supports their objectives.
- Additional Duties: Performs other tasks to support business goals, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
Physical Activities
Includes computer work, communication, working in various temperatures, and mobility within manufacturing environments. Travel may be required.
Qualifications
- 3+ years in food processing supervision, 2+ years managing multiple departments, and 5+ years in food manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of management experience.
