Description

The Regional Director of Operations provides leadership and guidance to Hospital Practice Managers to ensure that clinical and customer service expectations are exceeded while regional sales and profit goals are achieved. The Regional Director develops and implements plans, policies, and procedures to establish a lifetime relationship with pet parents and maximize profits. This position requires action regarding clinical services, merchandise placement, staffing decisions, and problem resolution, which may or may not be covered by specific operating procedures, thus individual judgment is often required.

This is a remote position that requires 80% weekly travel. Qualified candidates must reside in either Oklahoma or Texas.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Director of Regional Operations will oversee approximately 15-25 hospitals with annual revenues exceeding $30M.

Key Responsibilities
People Management
  • Recruit, train, develop, and manage Practice Managers to ensure hospitals are adequately staffed and succession plans are maintained.
  • Visit hospitals regularly, conduct inspections to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and clinical programs, and implement new policies promptly.
  • Provide counsel to Practice Managers on personnel issues, hospital events, problem-solving, and crisis intervention. Foster open communication through newsletters and hospital promotions. Set and monitor individual and hospital goals.
  • Ensure all staff are properly trained for outstanding customer service and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of hospital paperwork and proper communication with the Support Center.
  • Promote safety procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct semi-annual performance evaluations and annual merit reviews for Practice Managers, submitting recommendations to the CEO.
Financial Management
  • Monitor sales and expenses for each hospital, provide feedback, and recommend improvements to maximize profitability.
  • Identify industry trends and implement new products, programs, or services to grow market share.
  • Audit hospital paperwork regularly to ensure cash control procedures are followed and track trends.
Hospital Acquisition & Integration Support
  • Lead efforts to integrate newly acquired hospitals.
  • Serve as primary escalation point for operational or personnel issues.
  • Coordinate hospital acquisitions and remodels, ensuring timely service adjustments.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required; relevant experience may substitute.
  • Veterinary experience preferred; candidates from other service industries considered.
  • Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, analytical ability, and team-oriented mindset.
