Job summary

Alliance for Community Empowerment seeks a Senior Director of Programs to lead ACE's program portfolio across education, youth development, workforce development, reentry, housing, violence intervention, and behavioral health. The SDP reports to the Chief Program Officer, supervising Program Directors, ensuring contract compliance, and serving as the operational link to executive leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive program management experience in nonprofit/public sector.
• At least 2 years of direct supervisory experience managing professional staff.
• Must have a California drivers license, clean DMV record, and adequate auto insurance.
• Willingness to undergo DOJ background check and a credit check.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of Program Directors with regular 1:1s and development support.
• Coordinate regular cross-program meetings and resolve issues; escalate when needed.
• Foster a high-performing program team culture and act as escalation point.
• Oversee program implementation for fidelity to models, contracts, and grants.
• Review funding proposals, contracts, and grant compliance prior to CPO approval.
• Ensure timely, accurate funder reporting across programs.
• Develop corrective action plans for non-compliant programs; escalate to CPO.
• Identify implementation challenges and escalate for organizational decisions.
• Oversee program budgets with Directors; escalate variances.
• Set data standards and integrate with funder data platforms.
• Collaborate with Data Manager to monitor performance and drive improvement.
• Coordinate with HR, fiscal, and marketing to address barriers.
• Contribute content to grant proposals with CPO and Development Director.
• Prepare dashboards and briefing materials for CPO, funders, and CEO checks.
• Support transformation projects led by the CPO and communicate with staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the CPO.
