Slack is seeking a Sr. Director of Engineering to lead a high-impact engineering organization within our platform.

This leader will own technical strategy, execution, and team health for Slack, partnering closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional leadership to deliver reliable, scalable experiences for millions of users. You will build and mentor managers and senior ICs, shape roadmaps with exec-level stakeholders, and drive code quality, security, and system reliability while fostering

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years in engineering leadership roles managing managers.
• Proven track record leading large-scale, distributed systems.
• Experience partnering with Product/Design at the executive level to shape roadmap.
• Demonstrated success building and scaling high-performing, diverse teams.
• Excellent communication and ability to drive clarity in ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery for your engineering org from roadmap to execution and ops.
• Build, mentor, and scale a team of managers and senior ICs.
• Partner with Product and Design to translate business priorities into tech strategy.
• Drive engineering rigor: code quality, reliability, security, and scalability.
• Represent your org in cross-Slack and cross-Salesforce planning.
• Manage budget, headcount planning, and org design for your team.
• Foster a culture of accountability and psychological safety.
