Job summary

I3 Academy in Birmingham, Alabama seeks a Director of Development and Donor Relations to lead the organization's revenue-generation plan. You will oversee fundraising campaigns, major donor relationships, and grant management while directing development staff to ensure long-term financial sustainability.

The role combines strategic fundraising with hands-on leadership, requiring strong communication, relationship-building, and data-driven budgeting across local and national sources.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of professional experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, communications, and/or marketing preferred.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for grant proposals and donor pitches.
• Strong interpersonal and networking skills to engage diverse stakeholders and executives.
• Proficiency with donor management systems and proven budgeting success.

Responsibilities

• Fundraising strategy development and execution to meet annual targets across grants, philanthropy, corporate support, and events.
• Identify, cultivate, and steward major donors, sponsors, and board members.
• Oversee research, writing, and reporting of grants from foundations and government entities.
• Plan and execute signature fundraising events and donor campaigns.
• Lead and mentor development staff and collaborate with marketing teams.
• Develop and oversee network marketing initiatives to expand supporters and revenue.
