Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Director of Construction to lead civil projects in the St. Louis area.

You will oversee project delivery, develop field teams, and ensure safety, schedule, and profitability across multiple active sites. Ideal candidates have 10+ years in heavy civil construction with experience directing project managers and superintendents, strong knowledge of earthwork and utilities, and a proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and client relationships in the public and private

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction.
• Experience as Director of Construction, Senior Project Manager, General Superintendent, or similar leadership position.
• Strong background in earthwork, underground utilities, site development, grading or related civil construction.
• Proven experience overseeing multiple projects and project teams.
• Strong understanding of schedules, budgets, contracts, forecasting, and project financials.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Project Managers and Superintendents.
• Experience with DOT, municipal, commercial, or other public-sector projects preferred.
• Strong relationships within the St. Louis/Missouri construction market highly valued.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight across active construction projects.
• Manage and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership.
• Oversee project schedules, budgets, costs, production, and overall performance.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract requirements.
• Review project performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and profitability.
• Assist project teams with complex scheduling, contractual, and operational issues.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and resources across projects.
• Work closely with estimating and preconstruction teams during project handoff.
• Maintain strong relationships with owners, municipalities, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Establish consistent construction processes, standards, and accountability across project teams.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing project and field personnel.
• Participate in project planning, forecasting, and strategic construction decisions.
• Support the company's continued growth through strong project execution and client relationships.
