The ideal candidate will act as a player-coach, managing a team of originators and transaction professionals while actively participating in deal execution. The primary focus will be on storage assets across DG and utility scale, while balancing community solar and traditional C&I DG assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead M&A Strategy: Develop and implement M&A strategies to support the company's growth objectives in the renewable energy sector.
  • Deal Origination: Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets, including standalone storage assets and community solar projects.
  • Due Diligence: Oversee comprehensive due diligence processes, including financial, legal, and operational assessments.
  • Negotiation: Lead negotiations of definitive agreements, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company.
  • Transaction Management: Manage the entire deal lifecycle, from initial contact to transaction close, ensuring timely and successful deal execution.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of originators and transaction professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, legal advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management on deal progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in renewable energy, with a focus on M&A, particularly solar (community solar) and storage (DG and utility scale).
  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in project development processes, with a demonstrated understanding of key milestones for developers.
  • Underwriting: Experience in underwriting renewable energy projects, including financial modeling and risk assessment. In-depth knowledge of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and due diligence processes.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successfully closing complex transactions.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the renewable energy market, including regulatory and policy frameworks.
  • Network: Established network within the renewable energy industry, including relationships with developers, investors, and financial institutions.
  • Reporting: Proficiency in communicating concise summaries to senior management and presenting deal prospectuses to internal investment committees.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel as required for deal origination and execution.
