Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a senior Project Manager for large transmission programs in Corpus Christi, TX. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage safety, schedule, budget, and regulatory filings to deliver $1B–$10B projects with executive oversight.

You will establish contracting strategies, interface with regulators and stakeholders, and mentor a high‑performing leadership team to ensure on‑time, within‑budget execution and strong customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; 10 years of qualified experience.
• PMP certification required.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Willing to travel up to 50% as needed.

Responsibilities

• Direct overall project execution and PM functions to complete assigned projects.
• Oversee project safety program and strive for Zero Harm.
• Report project strategy and needs to Transmission Executive leadership.
• Establish contracting strategy; negotiate EPC and engineering agreements.
• Lead executive governance with JV partners when required.
• Align schedule across workstreams and manage resources.
• Oversee program budget and contingency; meet budget targets.
• Identify and mitigate project risks; manage risk register.
• Lead change management and resolve disputes early.
• Build a strong project leadership team and mentor staff.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with utilities, regulators, landowners.
• Ensure regulatory filings readiness and NCC approvals.
• Staffing management incl. staff augmentation and consultants.
• Deliver construction safely, on schedule, within investment.
• Understand technical solutions to drive team to solutions.
