Job summary

Valley of the Sun YMCA in Phoenix is seeking a Director of Major Gifts to lead strategy for major gifts and planned giving, partnering with the Chief Development Officer and the development team to raise funds and drive branch campaigns.

The role focuses on donor cultivation, campaign readiness, and building relationships with foundations, corporations, and community leaders to advance the YMCA's mission statewide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required or equivalent.
• 7+ years of fundraising experience, preferably with YMCA or non-profit sectors.
• Ability to create interpretive materials to explain YMCA impact to donors.
• Demonstrated fundraising strategy development.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to relate to branch staff and volunteer leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the major gifts and endowment program strategy and growth.
• Develop and implement fundraising plans for branches and campaigns.
• Counsel branch leaders on donor prospects, capital campaigns, and fundraising training.
• Build meaningful relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, and community leaders.
• Ensure stewardship and accountability in all philanthropic activities.
• Collaborate with the CDO and development team to advance branch initiatives.
