Job summary

Virscio is seeking a Director/Sr. Director of Business Development to generate and qualify leads, manage opportunities, and drive bookings for preclinical services across research models, GLP safety, histology, and molecular services. Remote work within the assigned territory, with up to 50% travel, and 40-hour weeks.

The role requires a PhD and 10+ years in preclinical/CRO business development, with a proven hunter mentality and strong CRM experience to close high-value contracts.

Qualifications

• PhD required; BS/BA in scientific field required.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience in preclinical/CRO business development.
• Proven success selling translational research services to life sciences, biotech or pharma.
• Strong understanding of life sciences sector from discovery to clinical trials and funding ecosystems.
• CRM proficiency with Salesforce and/or HubSpot.
• Ability to build relationships with external/internal customers; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Drive revenue growth by identifying, negotiating, and closing high-value contract research service agreements.
• Maintain real-time CRM pipeline forecasting and reporting.
• Develop and manage relationships with existing and prospective clients to meet revenue objectives.
• Collaborate with sales, SMEs, operations, and executives to move leads through RFPs to contracts.
• Qualify and respond to RFI/RFQ inquiries from marketing and inbound channels.
• Distribute marketing and technical collateral to educate and raise awareness.
• Provide timely, thoughtful follow-up on proposals and feedback.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer experience and internal processes.
