America’s Promise Alliance seeks a Senior Director of Development within External Affairs to lead end-to-end management and growth of a national philanthropy funder portfolio. Reporting to the Vice President of External Affairs, the Senior Director ensures priority funding relationships move forward with high-quality materials and disciplined follow-through.

Qualifications

• Experience as an institutional fundraising professional managing a large national portfolio.
• Ability to translate organizational priorities into fundable opportunities.
• Strong preparation and stewardship materials for high-level funder conversations.

Responsabilités

• Manage a portfolio of current and prospective institutional funders with clear strategy, next steps, timeline, and path toward cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, or renewal.
• Conduct ongoing prospect research to identify new funding opportunities aligned with APA’s priorities.
• Build and maintain funder pipelines, identify gaps, and expand APA’s philanthropic base.
• Prepare high-quality meeting briefs and materials for the CEO, Vice President of External Affairs, and senior leaders.
• Translate funder conversations into clear follow-up actions and portfolio movements.
