Job Description

Our client, a nonprofit, based in Queens, NY is looking for a transformational HR leader with experience across a wide array of industries and organizational sizes. This individual should have the ability to pivot quickly and bring a broad understanding of how different types of organizations operate. Ideally, they will have built an HR team from the ground up and bring proven transformation experience.

Key Attributes & Experience

  • Change Agent: Must be bold, proactive, and willing to engage with leadership directly. This person should take initiative and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, 24/7 operation.
  • Talent Strategy: Strong background in both talent acquisition and retention is critical. They must be able to streamline recruitment, not just improve the status quo, and create effective processes outside of existing HRIS systems.
  • Process-Oriented: There must be a formalized process for talent acquisition. Leadership (e.g., VPs) cannot make ad hoc hiring requests—this individual should implement and train the organization on a standardized, strategic approach.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills are a significant plus.
  • Persuasive Communicator: Should be able to influence and motivate others. The organization is eager for change and learning, and this person will be key to driving that momentum.
  • HR Generalist Development: HR generalists want to evolve into true business partners. This leader should help them become more engaged with and valuable to organizational leadership.

Work Environment:

The organization is fast-moving and requires high energy and consistent execution throughout the workday. While Fridays are currently remote, flexibility is essential—if leadership requires five days onsite, that must be accepted without resistance.
