Job summary

JPMorganChase & Co. seeks a hands-on Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the Equity Plan Services platform within Asset & Wealth Management.

You will own architecture decisions, design distributed systems, and ensure reliability across Spring Boot microservices, Kafka pipelines, and AWS infrastructure. You will collaborate with Business, Trading, and Operations to translate requirements into scalable engineering solutions, driving speed, scalability, and cost-to-serve while

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
• Experience leading large cross-functional technologist teams.
• Expert-level backend in Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python; strong SQL/NoSQL data modeling.
• Deep AWS expertise: ECS/EKS, Lambda, Aurora, DynamoDB, S3, Glue, CloudWatch.
• Hands-on Apache Kafka: design, consumer groups, exactly-once delivery, stream processing.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems: consistency, CAP, idempotency, failures.
• Strong CI/CD and test engineering; build pipelines and tests with teams.
• Excellent communicator between engineering and business/operations stakeholders.
• Experience leading multi-organization adoption of AI-enabled engineering and governance.
• Understanding of responsible AI risk and portfolio governance.

Responsibilities

• Directly manages multiple engineering domains with a focus on microservices and cloud infrastructure.
• Sets and scales multi-department strategy for event-driven design and cloud architecture.
• Establishes standards for microservices, cloud deployment, and automated testing.
• Drives cross-domain integration with cloud and infrastructure tools.
• Leads enterprise automation for performance improvements.
• Provides leadership to engineering teams across platforms.
• Oversees operations across business lines aligning with strategic goals.
• Interfaces with senior leaders to drive consensus on technical objectives.
• Drives AI-enabled delivery workflows, release governance, and security guardrails.
• Ensures reuse and governance across teams.
