West Virginia University Foundation, Inc. is seeking an Executive Director of Development to lead fundraising for WVU Medicine’s clinical programs.

The role focuses on planning and overseeing comprehensive development programs to advance the university’s mission and strategic goals. The EDOD will lead development efforts for major clinical units, supervise fundraising teams, cultivate donor relationships, and collaborate with unit leaders and administrators to secure gifts and support for WVU

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in development, advancement, or related field.
Demonstrated success in securing six- and seven-figure gifts and managing a donor portfolio.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day management of the development operations for WVU Medicine units (Eye Institute, Heart & Vascular Institute).
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of development professionals.
Develop and execute fundraising strategies aligned with university campaigns and priorities.
Collaborate with unit leaders to manage fundraisers and donor engagement activities.
Manage a personal portfolio of high-capacity donors for major gifts.
Meet personal annual fundraising metrics and expand grateful patient programs.
