Job summary

Alpha-9 Oncology is seeking an experienced Senior Director, Business Development to lead investor relations and external partnerships, driving opportunities across licensing, collaborations, and strategic transactions.

Reporting to the CFO, you will build financial models, oversee due diligence, and guide deals from opportunity through negotiation and execution while aligning with corporate strategy and pipeline priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 12+ years of business development or strategic partnerships in biotechnology or pharma.
• Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing biopharmaceutical transactions.
• Experience with licensing, collaborations, strategic partnerships, and external innovation.
• Strong understanding of drug development and asset value drivers.
• Experience developing financial models and valuation analyses.
• Strong understanding of transaction structures and deal economics.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex negotiations and cross-functional diligence.
• Excellent communication with senior executives and external partners.
• Willingness to travel up to 20-30% as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute Alpha-9's business development strategy in alignment with the pipeline, corporate strategy, and long-term growth objectives.
• Identify, source, and cultivate external opportunities, including licensing, collaborations, strategic partnerships, and other transactions.
• Evaluate opportunities from scientific, clinical, commercial, strategic, and financial perspectives.
• Build and maintain a network across biotech, pharma, and academic organizations; represent Alpha-9 at industry events.
• Lead cross-functional diligence processes with R&D, CMC, Regulatory, Finance, and Legal teams.
• Lead BD transactions through the full lifecycle from initial opportunity to closing.
• Develop transaction analyses, financial models, valuation assessments, and executive materials.
• Partner with CFO and Strategy to evaluate opportunities in context of portfolio priorities.
• Support management of strategic partnerships and ensure value capture.
