Magellan Health, Inc. is seeking a Senior Director of Actuarial Services to lead actuarial work supporting health plans from a remote location in the United States.

The role requires ASA/FSAs with extensive actuarial and management experience, overseeing rate adequacy, reserving, and cost modeling for multiple programs. Qualifications

• ASA designation required.
• 10+ years actuarial experience required; ASA exam performance may be considered with experience.
• 5+ years of management experience required.
• Experience in a comprehensive managed health care plan environment required.
• Experience with claims reserving techniques and premium rate development.
• Familiarity with health plan risk adjustment methodologies.
• Ability to develop, maintain, and oversee use of complex cost modeling tools.
• Strong communication and negotiating skills.
• Ability to manage multiple activities with high independence.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional local health plan leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Actuarial market lead for one or more managed health plan programs.
• Owns overall market accountability for health plan pricing and claims reserving.
• Leads all actuarial activities in regards to monthly financial close process.
• Accountable for identification and establishment of appropriate reserves for all care expense liabilities.
• Actively assists leadership in interpreting emerging care expense results.
• Designs and implements processes for forecasting medical expenses.
• Interfaces with state and/or federal agencies on rate considerations for health plan.
• Directs and/or collaborates on complex medical cost analyses as needed.
