Job summary

Sora Resource Group in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Digital Hardware to lead the design of high‑speed digital hardware, FPGA solutions, and multi‑layer PCBs for DoD sensing technology products. You will develop VHDL/Verilog on Xilinx platforms, build testable hardware, and support production through integration and validation.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering, 5+ years in digital hardware, hands‑on lab experience, proficiency with Altium,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of digital hardware design experience.
• Experience designing analog and digital circuits including FPGAs, microcontrollers, memory, and high-speed interfaces.
• Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and similar lab equipment.
• Experience with VHDL and/or Verilog.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of advanced digital hardware for next-generation products.
• Design multi-layer PCBs, develop schematics, and support board layout activities.
• Architect and develop FPGA solutions using VHDL and/or Verilog on modern Xilinx platforms.
• Perform hardware integration, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Design high-speed digital interfaces, data acquisition systems, digital signal processing (DSP), and communication architectures.
• Develop Python and Bash scripts to automate engineering workflows and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
