Job summary

Raytheon in McKinney, Texas, is seeking a Principal Digital Hardware Design Engineer to lead FPGA-based digital electronics for sensor and effector products. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define requirements, develop architectures, and execute detailed design and verification from architecture to production.

You will document designs in CM tools, drive integration, and provide engineering support across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 8+ years of experience in hardware design.
• Experience with embedded devices: microprocessors, FPGAs, memory, high-speed transceivers.
• Proven ability to mature designs from concepts to verified hardware.
• CAD tooling experience for schematics and PCB layouts.
• Experience with lab equipment for hardware verification.

Responsibilities

• Drive requirements decomposition and architecture definition.
• Lead design, analysis, test, and documentation of digital circuits with embedded processors, FPGAs, memories, and interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, UART).
• Collaborate with ECAD drafters on stack-up, simulations, layout and routing.
• Plan and execute integration and verification in lab environments.
• Provide product tests and root-cause investigations.
• Define schedules for circuit card and sub-system tasks.
• Manage project risks and opportunities, and lead medium-sized teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and review work; present to customers and leadership.
