Our client is a U.S.-based technology and engineering organization developing advanced electronic systems for mission-critical applications.

The engineering environment brings together electrical, digital, embedded software, FPGA, RF, mechanical, manufacturing, and systems disciplines to develop complex products from concept through production and field deployment.

The Opportunity

The company is hiring a Senior Digital Design Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, and testing of complex digital electronics.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who has personally designed high-speed circuit boards, worked through schematic capture and PCB layout, supported prototype builds, and brought hardware up in the lab.

The right person will be comfortable owning significant portions of the hardware development lifecycle while working closely with FPGA, firmware, software, RF, mechanical, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

• Design complex digital and mixed-signal electronic assemblies from concept through production.
• Develop system and board-level architectures, schematics, component selections, and bills of material.
• Design and support high-speed digital interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, USB, DDR, SPI, I2C, and similar technologies.
• Work closely with PCB layout resources on board stack-up, routing, signal integrity, power integrity, and manufacturability.
• Lead prototype bring-up, troubleshooting, validation, and root-cause analysis in the lab.
• Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, signal generators, spectrum/network analyzers, and other engineering tools to characterize and debug hardware.
• Collaborate with FPGA, embedded software, RF, systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams.
• Participate in technical reviews and communicate design decisions, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
• Support product integration, qualification, production transition, sustaining engineering, and field issues.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers as appropriate.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience designing complex digital electronics and printed circuit boards.
• Hands-on experience with schematic capture and multilayer PCB design.
• Strong understanding of high-speed digital interfaces and board-level design considerations.
• Experience taking hardware through prototype bring-up, debug, verification, and production transition.
• Strong lab skills and experience troubleshooting complex electronic systems.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly.
• Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and meet applicable customer or program requirements.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Siemens PADS, Xpedition, Altium, OrCAD, Cadence Allegro, or similar PCB design tools.
• Experience with FPGA-based designs and VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
• Experience with RF, embedded systems, or communications products.
• Experience with signal integrity and power integrity analysis.
• Experience developing products for aerospace, defense, communications, industrial, medical, or other highly regulated environments.
• Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.
