Job summary

City of Charlotte is seeking a Senior Diesel Technician to lead diagnostics and repair for a diverse municipal fleet, including heavy trucks and sanitation equipment. You will work with ASE-certified technicians to diagnose and repair electronically controlled diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and complex electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of relevant work experience; or a High School diploma/GED with two (2) years of relevant work experience.
• Must have or obtain NC Inspection License, AC Recover and Recycling License within 6 months (180 days) of hire.
• Must have within one year of hire: Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Must pass background and motor vehicle records check as part of the selection process.

Responsibilities

• Daily evaluation, inspection, diagnosis and repair of heavy truck fleet, construction equipment, sanitation equipment, and occasionally fire apparatus.
• Diagnosis and repair of complex electronically controlled diesel engines and modern electrical systems.
• Inspect vehicle systems, perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair failed components.
• Utilize fleet maintenance software to document work performed.
