Job summary

Amazon Web Services is hiring a Senior Product Design Mechanical Engineer with diesel generator experience for our Electrical Products and Services team. You will design and deliver resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution products for AWS data centers, driving reliability and uptime.

You will collaborate with global partners and suppliers, validate designs through prototypes, and support manufacturing across locations. Travel up to 30% and a strong focus on DFMA and DFS.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers or power generation.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of electrical power distribution equipment for AWS data centers, focusing on backup power generation, diesel generators, enclosures, and aftertreatment systems.
• Collaborate with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify equipment and ensure supply chain resiliency.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC and applicable codes across countries through testing.
• Validate designs through prototypes and DFx/value engineering analyses at each stage.
• Work with field teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of AWS products.
• Provide manufacturing support for new products across multiple locations and lead internal/external teams.
