Job summary

GFL - Sewer Technologies Division is seeking an experienced Mechanic A to diagnose and repair diesel and CNG powered trucks. You will lead inspections, oversee repair schedules and mentor junior technicians, ensuring safe, compliant operation.

The role requires DOT/OSHA knowledge, relevant certifications, and at least 5 years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience; CDL is preferred and training is available to obtain one within six months.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other related state and federal regulations.
• Brake safety certificate and 609 A/C system certification.
• ASE Certifications preferred.
• Ability to read schematics and manuals.
• Experience with diagnostic software; computer literate.
• Class A or B CDL preferred, or ability to obtain within six months.
• 5+ years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel and CNG trucks including engines and hydraulics.
• Lead inspections of brake systems and engine components.
• Mentor mechanics at levels B and C.
• Prioritize repairs to maximize efficiency.
• Oversee repair schedules and review mechanical write-ups.
• Perform DOT and brake inspections.
• Complete reports, orders, and parts requests daily.
• Maintain safe working conditions and safety compliance.
• Read electrical schematics and participate in training.
• Maintain a clean work area.
